Getting a Feminine Backside with Gluteal Implant (Buttock Augmentation)

Men tend to have buttocks that lack projection and are considerably flatter than their female counterparts, while women have backsides that are round and full, with a distinct curve that creates a sensuous silhouette. For transgender women, a shapely backside is a coveted sign of femininity that is not easily achieved through exercise alone, which is why so many of them turn to Gluteal Implant for the butt lift.

Fat grafting, also called the Brazilian butt lift, is the most popular method of butt augmentation. With fat grafting, results are immediately visible, but you won’t see the final product until a year after surgery; it takes time for the body to form new blood vessels and truly incorporate the grafted fat.

Very thin patients who don’t have enough fat for liposuction might not be eligible for fat grafting, and these are the women who make good candidates for implants. Gluteal implants improves the size and appearance of the buttocks by placing silicone implants under, in between or above the gluteal muscle producing a cosmetic enhancement.

Consultation with your surgeon
When evaluating the shape of the buttock, your surgeon will divide its anatomy into 2 sections; the upper buttock, and the lower buttock. Each area needs to be evaluated and addressed separately to provide the best gluteal harmony. When a gluteal enhancement is done, the implant is mainly augmenting the upper buttock rather than the lower one.

A careful analysis of your original upper and lower buttock needs to be made for preparing proper size and shape of buttock implant. For some patients whose lower buttock or hip area lack of fullness, the additional fat transfer procedure may be required in order to improve the overall shape.

Risks
Most candidates go into the initial consultation with an idea of what kind of butt they’re trying to achieve, but the bigger the implant, the bigger the risk. Large implants have higher rates of incisions that split open post-surgery and implants that shift around under the skin.

Other risks include implant rupture, formation of scar tissue around the implant (capsular contraction), which may cause the gluteus to feel tight or hard, bleeding and infection.

Your surgery procedure
On butt-implant delivery day, your surgeon will make an incision within the vertical butt crease and then slide silicone implants either into or above the gluteal muscle on each side. Placement technique varies among doctors, but intramuscular implants are ideal.

Your recovery
Patients must sit as little as possible for the first 72 hours after surgery and should lie face down or stand up most of the time. The patient should wear a tight garment on the gluteal area and should not do any exercise or lift weight for several weeks. The patient should not consume alcohol after surgery up to three weeks. Bruising and swelling should be gone after several weeks.

Results
The outcome varies from patient to patient; however, the overall effect is the enhancement of the gluteus (buttocks) size for an improved appearance.
